FSMK Summer Camp @ JVIT 2012-13

As I was a participant in the winter camp @ SVIT , the motivation I got was the most memorable moment with FSMK. So feeling very proud being a free software activist.
I would say that my H(activism) incepted

It was the second camp by FSMK. On Thursday,18th, we had been to the college to install Ubuntu to all the PCs in all the labs over there.  The college seemed to be like vidhana soudha for the first look. Every thing was pretty cool.Successfully installed by 5 PM with lots of fun and returned back home.

So, we PESCE people reached JVIT on the dusk of 19th. I went with so much enthusiasm to meet my FSMK friends and that was a cheerful day to all. The day ended by decorating the seminar hall for the inauguration of the next day.

That was the first day, where the registration was thronged with lots of ardor. That was just a prefatory to the GNU platform for all. There were many who got to know what actually  Free Software and Linux OS are. The two days ended with this introductory sessions. I wont say all, but many of those already got what FSMK is by this time. The third day was GCC, which was an interesting session. It was a good session which let many people know the alternative free software for C/C++ (Turbo C). The next day was the most excited day for all the people since it was the time for Mozilla team to interact with! The entire day was celebrated in a very technical way. They were a team of 5 who were all volunteers like us! X-ray goggles, Thimble were newly introduced to us. Many people got goodies like badges and stickers and one got a T-shirt. They suggested us to be a part of Mozilla . One thing I would like to share proudly is I am a Student Ambassador and mozzillian since 2 months. The day was awesome with them and it ended with it. The next day was project implementation day where we were instructed to implement what we were taught in the previous days. The Qt was new to us and actually is really my interest. Java and Android went asusual with the same energy with all the participants and volunteers. There was not much positive feedback with the android. Drupal day was also quite interesting to many of the people!

These are only the sessions! Coming to the fun activities, that was a great job with Karthik Bhat whom I call as Super Bhatru. The cultural events, treasure hunt, other new games were all good and all enjoyed. The food was awesome and hostel was good as well.

The camp did not end with only this! There were many birthdays celebrated with b'day bumps which was actually a fake birthdays. The nights were also days in the boys' hostel and no idea with the girls'. We learnt, shared, and enjoyed in the night! Rameez was with us till around 2 AM in our room sharing his knowledge, teaching us , treating us like his own kids, which is not the case in anywhere in the world. Not only Rameez, even all the FSMK people are the same, would talk to us any time you call them up, that is FSMK. So, this is what encouraged me to be a part in the winter camp!

What I actually learnt in this summer camp are Qt and Drupal ( a level more than what I knew). More than this, I felt really very happy meeting new people, helping with the errors, debugging, what else I need! My network of friends expanded which is the ultimate goal of a human during one's last breath.

I thank all the FSMK people (Rameez , Jaykumar, Vignesh , Sharath, Shijil , Raghuram , Karthik Bhat , Raghavendra , Jeeva) and volunteers for changing my life and its our time to explore things to deep in which we are interested in.  Finally I say "Free Software is the Future, The Future is ours"
